  1. Thomas and all, If you click on the browse tab on the top of the home page and then click guidelines it will always bring you to the latest copy of our registration terms of service. Use to be on the bottom of home page but was moved by a revision many years ago that i failed to notice. Mystery solved, JosephM PS This thread will be deleted in a week as it is just a copy of our terms of service and in the future may not reflect the current terms.
  2. added 1st line above terms to clarify that this is FYI to existing members and no action is needed. Working on getting a permanent link to the terms of service put on home page.

  4. Usually there is a link on bottom of home page to get you there but an update must have removed it. So i'll post it in news for now.
  5. Thomas He can PM it to you. I don't have the address anymore.
  6. While i am a bit skeptical about things such as exorbitant returns on investments, free lunches, something for nothing, etc., my inherent optimistic attitude on matters that require that which is beyond evidence i can provide, except through personal experiences , stays on my belief list until it is proven no longer of usefulness to me. πŸ™‚
  7. Rom, Yes, i think i would. Great answer "Baby steps"

  9. Thomas, What part of my post do you not understand? (rhetorical) I started when i started and asked you to let the past go and stop discussing this. I will not go back to before i started, technology or not, you were the first i caught so get over it now or you will be the first to be suspended for ignoring moderator instructions. JosephM (as Admin)
  10. 😊 Sorry, this i cannot do. πŸ˜‰
  11. Thomas, There's nothing to understand. Your question is similar to many that are caught speeding. "Why didn't you catch the other guy that passed me?" We just happened to start at that time that you were in the speed zone. Let's leave the past and go from here please.
  12. I think revelations come to people from the least we could say from beyond the conscious mind. Perhaps many of the great inventors received inspiration from just such a place, thing, or ? . Anyway they believed it first and then set out to prove it. That seems to tell me and agrees with my personal experience that evidence is not always needed for belief. There seems to me to be a deep knowing inside us that if we are tuned in, direct knowledge or knowing is present without evidence at that time. The book of Hebrews said .... " Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Not just because the book says so but my personal experiences agrees with that definition and it has proven itself in my personal life, at least to me.
  13. Thanks, My hope is as yours (that "there are sage reasons behind this event and I also hope there has been plenty wise thought given to the consequences and contingencies") except that mine is optimistic rather than pessimistic.
  14. BTW I could pass for the generals double. No? 😊
  15. As i said i don't have the full picture.... so hope and trust is all i have. I can't answer the question "why now" and anything said by those not in the know seems to me would only be assumptions. There is no shortage of those critical of what transpired but i haven't heard from anyone yet that was past just assumptions.
  16. Thomas , No more discussion on this. No demanded apologies. We are starting new, Thank You for understanding; JosephM (as Moderator)
  17. I read a little from both sides. It had to be a serious decision as the stakes are high. It seems to me a lot of the opposition here is partisan banter. I really don't have the full picture so i just have to trust that those in charge and involved know the facts, what they are doing, and have made and are making wise decisions with the data they have. At least until i am convinced otherwise... Joseph
  18. To All, Please no more discussion on this. We are all adults. The past is the past, lets not argue about it (what he said, she said). This is the New Year. Perhaps we are all guilty. You all know the rules . No more insults or put-downs . The moderators will have final say so on what is inappropriate . Lets not argue about it. And yes calling others posts nonsense is not acceptable. I should never have let it get this far. I apologize to everyone for waiting so long to start to enforce the rules. One warning without a public apology and then a repeat brings a 1 week suspension. Enough said. JosephM(as Moderator)

  20. Thomas, This is a new year and it seems to me this kind of banter has no place here nor adds to the discussion. Please try to refrain from such and i will do my best to see others do the same this year. Also Rom was never banned . His non-agreement with our 8 points simply makes it an area (progressive Christianity forum section) where he and others who are like-minded cannot post in accordance with the rules set forth in the guidelines specified at the top of that particular forum. Thanks for your understanding and i will try to keep discussions more civil so we can increase participation to those who want a more peaceful discussion this year. JosephM as moderator
  21. Welcome to the forum DKM. I thought your comment " Read a lot of Spong and agree with most of his stuff, but not sure I can live with how remote his God is." was quite humorous. 😊 I think we all talk about the same God but from a different conditioned view with different words more slanted to our own view. I really don't see God as remote at all but more of what you seem to describe as to what Richard Rohr writes. (I'm not familiar with his work other than your comment) As far as your last question, i don't see why not except there are times when feathers are ruffled. We will try to keep it to a minimum this New Year. Joseph
  22. Haven't made a New Years resolution in many many years. When i see a need or have a strong desire to make a firm decision to do or not do something in my life, i usually start at that time rather than putting it to a future time or naming it . I started an exercise regimen at the gym here in the Villages a little over a year ago to keep in shape and enjoy the exercise and comradery of multiple golf games each week. I guess one could say that was a resolution. Unfortunately? or fortunately?, i have nothing that i feel that needs a firm resolution at this time though after reading Paul's list it would be nice to learn a new musical instrument. I can already make noise on the guitar and harmonica but some kind of keyboard would be nice to learn. Even another language would be nice but none of this is moving me at this point. πŸ˜„ I pretty well have all that i need and no burning desire to do anything new that calls for a New Years resolution at this time. I'm still working (if one wants to call it that) on my private resolution that i made in 1980 and continuing to make progress in, howbeit, sometimes it is slow and appears to have rest periods and backward movements at times.😊 What i am now is a product of that resolution and i am content and at peace with whatever transpired or will transpire.. Here's wishing everyone here the desires of their heart. (resolutions or not) Anyway, live , die, sink or swim ..... it is all good. Just sayinπŸ™‚

  24. Your welcome. The PH.D in Psychology major Jim Taylor says it much better than i can say and perhaps you will understand my point better.without it being a contradiction to you. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-power-prime/201908/perception-is-not-reality
