  1. Yeahhh...but I bet you could if you wanted to...he,he,he ! flow....
  2. James: With all due respect many of us here have watched these never-ending conflicts among Semitic brothers and sisters for decades and are still mostly baffled by its root causes other than it's likely stemming from some sort of tribal conflict factor. Much of it, in my opinion, was rooted in Palestine at about the time of Germany's influences there during the WWI period. Really, you are pretty much of a young pup in all of this, and only use the most expedient means to justify what you assert. You simply do not have the life experience or depth of knowledge to untangle the reasons behind all of this, so you satisy your lust for literary conflict by attacking what people, with more experience with the situation, and probably more knowledge about its history, write about it all. Of course you have the right to do that, but you must realize by now that your intrusions are fairly non-operative and do little to influence our views here. I've suggested this elsewhere on TCPC before, but you should obtain and read a copy of James Michener's excellent novel, The Haj. Then come back and write a book report for us regarding its contents. Then maybe some of us would pay more attention to your thoroughly non-sequitor rants. By the way, my favorite dictionary, a well-worn American Heritage that I still use when writing seriously, shows a preferred definition for the word "drivel" as, "To slobber, drool". And, secondarily, " To talk or utter stupidly, childishly, or senselessly." Liquid oral emissions or speech were not involved in what led up to your post ( as far as I know ), but writing was; so, I believe that you used a word inappropriate to the situation that you wished to address. Best regards, flow....
  3. MOW: Despite your mild-mannered online deportment, I always knew that you were a wild and crazy guy. I understand fire eating ( did you play something from Handel's water music to counter the effects ?), but the snake dancer thing baffles me. Was it like the stuff the replicant babe did in Ridley Scott's film, Blade Runner? Or was it at some strip bar in Calumet City or Cicero? Is there mongoose music to fit the situation? Or did you play something from the asian subcontinent ? I'm really looking forward to your answers. I have to live with vicarious thrills much of the time these days. flow....
  4. Hi one love 87 ! I'm old enough to be your gramps and I still look for answers each day. Sometimes I find them, but usually I end up posing new questions for the next day. Welcome the the group ! flow....
  5. Ruby: So good to have you with us here. You'll find a lot of company here with stories that are variations on yours. In my case my family and religious life was wonderful in a lot of ways. I wasn't abused until I left home and went to university, and then it lasted through that time and throughout my two marriages, although my wives were not really to blame for most of it. It was as if the environment reached out around me and manipulated situations to my disadvantage in ways such that I was made out to be the bad guy. Anyway it really didn't all mostly stop until I moved out west to help my parents through their final years. Things are going along pretty well now. Yes it takes a long time to recover from such spiritual traumas and realize that it really wasn't you, it was the other attacking you psychologically and spiritually. Keep working on your future. From what I've read that you've posted on CR you're doing just fine. Welcome !....flow....
  6. Wonderful post Soma. It reminds me of the Russian dolls that are so popular there. There are hidden similarities and reflective relationships among the things and stuff of the Creation. If only more of us could educate and condition ourselves in ways to see and recognize that, then this might become a better place for all of us over time. flow....
  7. Join the club. Many misguided souls here in the U.S. seem to have taken that practice up as one of their lifetime goals it seems. How boring that must be ! I now dread the election season as they are now beginning to air their hate filled attack ads against mostly middle of the road and liberal candidates. It forces one to not watch TV much of the time since the ads are very unsettling with their disturbing and negative messages which are meant to scare unsuspecting potential voters into not voting for such candidates. Definitely one of the downer factors in living in a democracy. People with money are allowed to advertise hate, and it diminishes all who watch or become involved in the process. flow....
  8. Exploration always carries doubt with it. Question the status quo and auhority when. in your opinion, it unreasonably asserts itself in your life. It is my belief that's what G-d really wants all of us to do, because spiritual progress as a whole is more difficult otherwise. If we always allow others to plan pathways for us, our lives become more difficult spiritually, and we are dug into holes of darkness that we sometimes have difficulty climbing out of, as the past few years are showing us all. Again, welcome ! flow....
  9. I haven't ever been around them, but I do find their appearance to me majestic in some ways. Out here in the great SW desert in the USA we're just getting started on large-scale solar power farms. These two kinds of renewable energy trends will do nothing but good in the long-range to wean humans from addictive and increasingly destructive usage of fossil fuel energy sources. You should always do what your heart tells you is the right thing to do. In the long term your neighbors will understand the good sense of wind power. flow....
  10. Aletheia, my horned-helmeted beautiful friend: You have been such a good friend and fellow seeker here and elsewhere. We are all truly blessed by your presence, wit, and unfathomable knowledge of things spiritual, We love you and cherish that day that G-d sent you to us from the beyond to better all of our lives. Have a wonderful day and many, many more happy and productive years. Happy birthday from the old guy that makes your brain smoke.... flow....
  11. Welcome loveapple ! You'll find a lot of sympathetic company here. As you pointed out in your post this sort of abuse is contagious and intergenerational. But then that's how evil has always worked to separate and divide those who should be bound together in love. It's been kind of quiet on this forum the past few months, but read some of the past threads and I believe that you'll find a lot of comfort in our company when things get going again. flow....
  12. It's not freaky, it's called a harmonic convergence. flow....
  13. MT: Well yes, what you say is all absolutely true. But I believe that the reality is that most families are scheduled and worked into numbness so effectively that they are coerced by their situations to always seek the expedient ways out of their dilemmas. And why not ? They turn on their TV's each night and see the rest of America and large parts of the world's leadership doing it each day. So it's difficult for most people to get worked up about it all enough to take real action through channels because they know from past experiences that that doesn't work. So they just curl up on their sofas with a drink or two and watch re-runs or pop in a DVD of Finding Nemo or The Omen and forget about it all. It's called apathy. I mentioned this before elsewhere here, but if you can find a tape or DVD of an older film by Sir John Boorman titled, Zardoz, you will be amazed at how right on this production, starring a young Sean Connery and Charlotte Rampling, is with regard to the situations that you describe. flow....
  14. Hi MT: Offhand I would say that this is all a reflectiion of how things are run in the world, and that is through gamesmanship; and, who plays whatever game that's involved the best wins. That applies to business, governance, money, sex, football, basketball, the nextel cup, lacrosse...I believe that you get the picture. While I wholeheartedly agree that win-win situations are best in the long run, (I used to negotiate research contracts for a university) and it is even possible to do such things in the real world, our culture simply will not allow it to happen on a large scale because of our addiction to playing games and crowning the winner with laurel. Reality Bites ? flow....
  15. des You noticed, of course, that the pic was from 1968. Even I looked pretty good back then. Besides, that great television teacher and philosophress, Geraldine, taught us all back then, that no matter how disciplined and careful we are in our lives, there are always times when "the Devil will make us do it". I've been there quite often. flow....
  16. Just to show you how retro we progressives must be, I met a couple from a Cleveland suburb today and they were unresponsive when I mentioned that great Clevelend band, Devo. This was fun guys. Let's do it again sometime, and I really appreciate the lyrics to the song... AletheiaRivers ! flow....
  17. des, AR, &MOW Okay fellow horny helmet wearers, haunches and mead on the table and altogether now let's yell when the chief's vessel floats away from us after being lit by fire......OOOODINNNNNN ! (I got that scene from a very old film called (I think) The Vikings starring Michael Douglas' father Kirk, Tony Curtis, and Sidney Poitier. Only hollywood could bring a blue-eyed gentile, a jew from Brooklyn, and an african brother together in a viking saga. See what you starteds AR ? Devolution, devolution, devolution, Devo....hey that's a, 80's band from Cleveland isn't it ? Whip it good !!!
  18. AR: LOL I imagine that James would probably zone-out if he came back to the thread for the fight he picked and saw what it had devolved into. I learned, when I worked in intellectual property matters, that true invention is "non-obvious". While your avatar is a scream, I think I liked you better as the redhead with the short cut. People have alweays warned me about redheads, but then my mom had auburn hair before she became silver in her 40's. I've still got a few red hairs on my arms. but I'm mostly silver now too. But, on the other hand, the blond pig tails are cute sticking out from under your helmet of horns. And all of us here within the boundaries of debauchery in the eastern Mojave desert KNOW that blonds have LOTS more fun ! I heartily approve of your new TCPC identity, as long as felix does also. I really like your fish pic on CR, but then, I'm partial to the species, and not just as food. flow....
  19. LOL you guys! As a former husband, I can vouch for the fact that husbands do like alternative realities, and sometimes costumes and assumed identities do help. But then, I've been divorced twice, so what do I know anyway? Anyway, have lots of virtual fun you guys, but be VERY careful with the broadsword AR. flow....
  20. AR: I was at a loss for words and I really don't like to fight so I thought that facials would suffice. Besides. you've got that neat viking helmet and broadsword that you brandish so well. If Rummy ever gets canned, I'm nominating you for defense secretary. James: To err is human, to forgive divine. I believe that you've seen an example of this principle here. Tell your other non-progressive friends about what understanding can do. flow....
  21. Hello Cynthia ! So good to hear from you again. Yes, I agree with your assessment about the SBC situation. Everyone deserves a chance to show their intent and direction. I also agree with your take on the homosexuality issue. Just like everything else in nature, humans are a spectrum of desires and actions. The directions we pursue and take in life depend upon our genetic predispositions and our explorations and experimentations with the environments around us that influence us. A life of rigid control for control's sake is boring and deadening IMHO, and not what we are indended for. flow....
  22. Ted: REALLY like your avatar ! Welcome ! flow....
  23. On another forum, I have posed the question of how this dichotomy arose within human belief. Why is diversity and variability in genotype viewed as a "disorder" by some of us, and conversely, why do many of us see this variability as a "normal" feature of natural differences among people ? This goes way back in human cultural history. Just as the book of Genesis is written from the dual perspectives of imposing order upon nature versus living in harmony with nature, so also does this basic difference in perspective arise in issues such as we have been discussing here. I'll report on any interesting answers that may arise. flow....
