I don't really see how Isaiah 66 refutes anything I've said. Don't really see what it really has to do with what I said either.

I came across this video earlier today. Perhaps it might explain what people on this website mean by "Progressive Christianity". The video is put out by the same people and organization that host this website and this forum.

Thanks for reading and for watching the video

I understand now exactly what you are doing here now. He says  about following Jesus and practicing. Why then you don't keep the 10 Commandments and keeping the Sabbath day as a holy day. Not Sunday. And what I'm doing is progressive because I Follow only the Bible teaching.

Progressive means obeying God's Laws and have the FAITH of Jesus.

Jesus says in Matthew 5:17-18, "THINK NOT" or "DON'T THINK" Why are you still thinking that the laws is done away after Jesus death? Do this earth and heaven has PASSED away? Disobeying Jesus, call you that progressive?

    God bless you all friends.

  2. Okay, one thing more we are the FEW remnant people that holding completely to the Bible wors Biblical. So for a better understanding we are the people of Revelation 14:12 and 12:17. We are the FEW that can preached the Everlasting Gospel to the World. Do you know what the Everlasting Gospel is?

I want you to see if we say something that isn't Biblical. Do it just for curious. God bless you.

If you have something sent it for me.     Thanks.

One of the principles of this site is that the bible is NOT to be interpreted literally or as history.

It really does not promote the literalist interpretation you express, so I’m a bit puzzled by that.

Okay, when you are so far let me know.

I tend to think of "the end of times" or the in breaking of the Kingdom of Heaven as something that started with Jesus. It's the end of a kind of worldliness and worldly thinking or a worldly reality that is ending and new reality and way of looking at the world that was starting. It's not "the end of the world" but an end of a kind or worldly thinking and reality that is/was ending.

This may happen to different individuals and or communities at different times in history and or in our own lives.

People have been saying "it's the end of the world" and in our generation, for like forever. (I think that someone else has already mentioned this on this thread). Perhaps they are looking for the wrong sort of events to be happening.

Jesus is quoted as saying, "The Kingdom of Heaven is within you", "That the Kingdom of Heaven comes in a way that cannot be seen", and that, "The Kingdom of Heaven is scattered among you and people do not see it". This is a far different type of transformation, than the end of the world happening one day, and a whole entire new world arriving the next.

    Read Isaiah 66.

I have only a passing interest in speculating if God created man by using evolution.  I am not an anthropologist and 200k years is a terribly long time ago.

I am interested in the bible as one of our oldest literary creations and the cornerstone of our civilization.  I want to read it as accurately and as deeply as possible and try to determine what information those people who lived only 5k years ago intended to be preserved and passed on to me.  That is something I can confidently achieve.

How should I treat others?  How can I maintain and increase a conscious connection with God?  What pleasures seem attractive but turn into vices and lead into degeneracy and desperation?  How can I uplift others?  How can I live  fulfilled & content, and how can I face death without fear?

Those are some of my interests, and natural selection does not provide a source of inspiration.

Or  -  if it might  -  how?   What inspiration do you draw from that well?

Jerry's post helps remind me about just letting others be.  I'm not here to convince you Pipiripi and I don't have the energy to try.  Enjoy your journey - I do sincerely wish you well.

Thank you, but for me, I cannot stop giving you Jesus Paul. I'm not like Jerry. I am like Jesus of NAZARETH, the Son of the LIVING GOD.  Everybody say!! AMEN.

PC is rather fluid (and perhaps beyond a final definition) but my statement was about PCs defining science as the study of God - I just don't think that is done. I get though that Spong speaks of evolving into Christ. I also get your further explanation of science - Creation - God, however, as you know, a non-believer could look at science and creation and never see God or the reflection of God in creation.

I don't think God is involved in natural processes, on this I am a  bit of a 'deist' or a true panentheist: God is the source and sustainer of all, all is of/in God, but it appears that natural laws and principles are evident in creation and creation carries on governed by those laws - like gravity. If God was involved in natural processes it seems logical that he would then be involved in the natural processes of hurricanes, earthquakes, cancers, etc..............and then one could blame God for human suffering and death. Having said all that, I do believe that God is 'present and active' in the ordinary, everyday moments of human life (not sure about the rest of creation given the natural laws).

I agree that 'human evolution into eternity' can't be done without God. I prefer the term divinazation of the human: man/woman doing what God IS (Love) and thus 'becoming/being' divine.

Suffering is suffering and we do still suffer in many different ways. My point is that being 'in God' does not allow one to escape human limitation and fragility (in this life).

God is the source of life, God doesn't need to intervene in His creation. It is better to ask God about His creation.

No I don't see.  We all use our thinking - you think you understand the bible a certain way.  That is your thinking.  What you have not thought through in my opinion is that much of the bible is myth and storytelling, such as the stories of creation, made by people who had no idea of the universe and its unfolding.  Science can now fill in that picture and it seems to me, only Christians who feel threatened by the science of our existence tend to deny it and grab hold of that literal bible even harder.  I would encourage you to release your grip a little and try to be open-minded about evolution.  That might help you see.

Go on YouTube and see the deception of evolution (2016) and tried to answer the questions if you can. Let me know.

..........you think evolution is a fantasy and others think God is a fantasy - then there are those who accept both.

One have proof but the other doesn't. Evolution doesn't have any proof. Till today nothing has evolve. But people are still healing in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Some of us are very comfortable with both God/Jesus and Darwin: belief in Darwin's theory and a faith response to the God revealed in Jesus. Try it, you might like it.

Also you might have misread Darwin, he is not an ape-man.

If it isn't Darwin, who was the first person that brought the ape man theory?

Again, God who has created everything don't fit in the evolution story. Nobody can be both. Call you God a liar? Genesis 1.

  11. On 7/29/2020 at 4:12 PM, Elen1107 said:

I too believe in both. I believe in evolution into Christ. Christ is still every bit as much Christ and God is still every entire bit as much God.

Just like people didn't need to know that the earth is round to believe in Christ and be saved, they/we didn't need to know the exact story of creation.

It's not the end of faith and inspiration, and in some ways it may be a bit of a new start or beginning.

    God = BELIEVE

Evolution = KNOWING WHAT MAN'S TEACHING IS, WITHOUT WAS IN THE PASSED.

Christians don't have nothing to do with evolution. They cannot mix.

Personally, I think you would probably benefit from understanding the science of evolution, but it's your choice.

If you can answered my question about evolution with an obvious details. Why not. Do you have seen on You Tube. The Atheist Delusion Movie (2016)? If not than there you find all my questions about evolution.

I think you miss the point.  The criticism of Pascal Wager's is that if you choose to apply it to the Christian God, then it begs the questions why don't you apply the same rationale to any other God?  Essentially you are saying, better to believe in Allah than take a risk Allah doesn't exist.  Better to believe in Zeus, Odin or Krishna, just in case they do exist.

There are something like 3000 gods in the human experience to choose from.  Christians don't believe in 2,999 of them - Atheists just deny one more God than traditional Christians.

I mean what I say, it is better believe in an Almighty God Jehovah and His Son Jesus Christ of NAZARETH, to believe in an ape man Charles Darwin.

  14. 15 minutes ago, PaulS said:

That is called Pascal's Wager and if you actually consider what you say, you will see there are a lot of problems with such a statement (i.e. if you're a Christian trying to prove a point):

    https://whistlinginthewind.org/2012/05/06/the-flaws-of-pascals-wager/

This is the first time a have seen this statement.

The conclusion is, better waisting my time believe in God, then waisting my time don't believing in nothing. Just following man teachings. Believe in a fantasy created by man between 200 years ago

Which version of the 10 Commandments? There are three of them

I have an article on the subject. The following are quotes from that article:

"Then there is the very salient question of what the commandments do not say. Is it too modern to notice that there is nothing about the protection of children from cruelty, nothing about rape, nothing about slavery, and nothing about genocide?"

"There are three versions of the Ten Commandments in the Bible. Two of them are very similar, Exodus 20:2-Exodus 20:17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-Deuteronomy 5:21 The third version, in Exodus 34:12-Exodus 34:26 is radically different, and is the only one which the Bible refers to as "the Ten Commandments" "

This is Exodus 34. The only version that the bible refers to as "the Ten Commandments"

    1. Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
    2. Do not make any idols.
    3. Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread. For seven days eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Aviv, for in that month you came out of Egypt.
    4. The first offspring of every womb belongs to me, including all the firstborn males of your livestock, whether from herd or flock.
    5. Redeem the firstborn donkey with a lamb, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck. Redeem all your firstborn sons. No one is to appear before me empty-handed.
    6. Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest, you must rest.
    7. Celebrate the Festival of Weeks with the firstfruits of the wheat harvest, and the Festival of Ingathering at the turn of the year.
    8. Three times a year all your men are to appear before the Sovereign LORD, the God of Israel.
    9. Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me along with anything containing yeast and do not let any of the sacrifices from the Passover Festival remain until morning.
    10. Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God. "Do not cook a young goat in its mother's milk."

    https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Ten_Commandments#:~:text=There%20are%20three%20versions%20of%20the%20Ten%20Commandments,the%20Bible%20refers%20to%20as%20%22the%20Ten%20Commandments%22.

I don't know from which Bible you have quote this Commandments. Stay at the 10 Commandments that God has wrote with His finger. Exodus 20. Now that I have read Exodus 34, I have understand how you have squeezed the word of God. Here God are given the Israelites a parable how they must keep His LAWS.  My friend the sacrifices was till Jesus come to this world. Now no need the sacrifices anymore. Because Jesus don't die anymore. But the 10 Commandments will stay till Jesus returns again. Matthew 5:17-18.

    P,

You do realize that the calendar you're talking about is also wrong (as mentioned by Paul). It was a guesstimate when Jesus was born and they called that 1 AD (CE) but they were wrong: Jesus was born before what they called 1AD so Jesus was born in BC or what is now called BCE.

So the atheist and for that matter none of us, including Jesus know when we were born.

However you must realize the is not the date of your birth but the life lived that is the true mark of a man or woman.

You are fighting a losing battle and a battle that no one cares about.

My friend if something that not exist for me I don't used something that doesn't exist. Find out why you have the year that you have now I correctly. My believe have a beginning and an ending story. My believe have names from the first persons on this world. A father and a mother. Your believing begin in the middle of history and ended when you die. But we true Christians will have eternally life. If God not exist, if I die what I have to loose? Nothing.  But what about there is a God, and I don't believe? Isn't it better to believe in God?

I don't understand your point about calendars Piriripi.  One doesn't need to believe in God to go along with a societal norm such as using the Gregorian Calendar.  It just makes life easier for all if we work to something we agree on, such as dates.

Okay Paul tried to follow me. People that don't believe in God can never knows their birthday. Why? Because the year and day and month, they are the years telling begin by Jesus birth. So for Atheist it is impossible to used something that doesn't exist. They must go back in their system of beginning to proof how old they really are. An example: I was born on 11-11-1961. So me that believe in God can used this day and year for my existence. Atheist their story don't have a beginning and an end. So simple truth.

    Without the present calendar, we wouldn't know when to have Christmas :+}

No Christmas, no July 4th, no Mother's Day and how would I know when to celebrate my birthday?...............come on Pipiripi.

If you don't believe in God, you cannot used something that not exist for you as it is so. You must have somewhere to deal with existence. Like this: How the first day come in existence? Why we are here for a short time and living poor then die poor, without no hope? Why I have to die so young and plants living thousand of years? The only book that can show us, is the BIBLE.

If there is no God, then there is also no magic. No magicians. So simple truth. There is no healing in the name of Jesus. Open your mind my friend. God love you. If I don't believe in God, and I die, what did I loose if there is no God!! What about if there is a God? Isn't it better to believe in God who there is hope for eternal life? I love you all. I hope that you take the best move. God bless you and everyone that have read this message.  end-times-prophecy.org

Good for you. I use the present calendar to communicate with people and it doesn't matter to me who created it or if you think it is pagan or not.  It is the Gregorian calendar and more scientifically accurate for the seasons than the Julian calendar used at the time of Jesus.

That is believing in Jesus for using something that not exist. So, I will keep praying for you. Jesus love you.
