Lee Tasey Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Hello. I've been interested in the question "Is Western civilization dying?" for some time. Is it true and, if so, what will arrive to take its place? I've got a long break coming up and would like to deepen my study of this question. If the forum members can recommend any good books, articles, websites or sermons on this topic, I'd appreciate it :-) Lee Quote

Western civilization is evolving and a critical part of evolution is death. And to quote Joseph Campbell "Unless there is death there cannot be birth." I think I got the quote close enough to his intent. Everything is a result of cause and effect (perhaps with the exception of quantum effects). Books ... I can't give you specific suggestions ... but in a general way, I would recommend reading about evolution as it applies to biological and non biological systems. JosephM Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Lee, Western civilization is changing and in a constant state of flux. Is it for the better or worse .... i can't say... but in my view of things i think we are headed in the proper direction. I have no book suggestions here to recommend. Joseph Quote
LusciousAutumn Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 That is an excellent question, and you are surely not the first to ask it. These are the most relevant resources I could find: Is The Collapse Of America Inevitable? The Decline & Fall of the West: Stephan Molyneux & Dr. Jim Penman "The Death of the West: An Examination of our End" Series | Stefan Molyneux Why Social Justice Is Satanic & We Need Religion to Defeat It The End Goal of Western Progressivism is Depopulation A nice man I follow on YouTube wrote a book on this-Enjoy the Decline: Accepting & Living With the Death of the United States Hope that helps ♥ P.S. I liked your book. Advertising it on a dating site was a brilliant idea Quote
soma Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Lee thank you for the question and Autumn thank you for the resources. I totally agree with the concept of evolution. I have worked and lived with the under belly of society for five decades in many countries and I would say from the bottom looking up or around the bottom of the barrel everything is right on track. People who are suffering want a new way of life, a change or at least a vacation. Most can't afford a vacation so drugs or alchol are a substitute untill they are vacated with frustration. Some choose to alter their consciousness with spiritual practises with mixed results. Sadly, some get manipulated before having an altered state experience or they become spiritual capitalist and manipulate the people searching below them. I think the people at the bottom are more willing to listen, be open and find their bliss inside because the outer environment is so harsh. The people at the top seem to be trying too hard to be happy searching in all the wrong places, which are right because they lead to surrender. They can't find happiness even with the money to search because the path is just to be happy. Many of the poor people have found that experience in their simple lives. News is competitive so to grab our attention they broadcast and exagerate the worst so they can sell it for money. Even in the most extreme cases there is light burning below the ashes, but only the ashes are advertised. I told my son last week, If you are not happy with something change your mind and thinking about it. You are co-creating the experience so take responsibility for it and do what you have to do." tariki Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 That is an excellent question, and you are surely not the first to ask it. These are the most relevant resources I could find: Why Social Justice Is Satanic & We Need Religion to Defeat It Hi LusciousAutumn Took a quick peep at the above recommendation. Thankfully I no longer identify with "religion" in any way. As others here have said, it is "rebirth" that is needed, which itself calls for the "seed to fall into the ground and die". Signs are that it can happen on an individual basis. As I see it seeking to pump life into outworn forms is no way forward. Nor creating simplistic dichotomies and then seeing "truth" on one side only. I would not recommend it. Thanks Derek Quote
