DebD Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 My name is Deborah. I am 57 years young and just waking up to the fact that the Gospels were written 70 - 100 years after Jesus was crucified....hmmm...maybe there weren't any angels singing or shepherds watching or magi following a star! Could it be that this was added later on....much later on? Reading Bishop's Spong's books and realizing that they make total sense.....gee, am I a late bloomer or what? Darwin, Galileo .... I am finally getting up to speed! Modern Christian here.....Silence, contemplation, zen.....yeah, now maybe now I can get on with real growth -- more love -- more silence -- more genuine inspirations....from the Spirit!
PaulS Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Welcome Deb, It's a brave New World, although not all that new, just either ignored or buried. I hope you enjoy the path. Cheers Paul
Inthedark Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Hi Deborah and welcome. I'm on the path as well Paul
glintofpewter Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Hi, Deb, Welcome. Perhaps there is now enough fertilizer for growth Many of us are late bloomers Dutch
DebD Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 Thanks everyone for your warm welcome! Looks like I am in the right place!
Pete Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Hi Deb, it sounds to me your growing just fine. Because they do not promote this information in many churches there are those like me who saw the light after many years of wondering based on something just does not feel right. However, we got there in the end. Welcome friend. It is great you have joined us.
JosephM Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Hi deb, Its never to late. Time is just a concept. Follow peace and inspiration seems to always come at the right time. Joseph
soma Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Deb welcome and you are being guided if you found the silence. May you share what you have learned with the rest of us.
vivaldian67 Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 It's amazing how people arrive at Progressive Christianity from different angles! There's those, like you, who were more traditional Christians, then there's those like me who were atheists. And God only knows what other backgrounds are represented here.
