Don't have a post for today? Check in and leave your thought for the day or let others know what you are doing. A great suggestion by Dutch.

My wife and I went to dinner with a couple that are friends of ours and the wife is really searching spiritually because we live in a very fundamentalist community. This morning I am trying to figure out how best to introduce her to TCPC and what we are about. thats what I am doing today. thanks bob ve

My wife and I are separated. Last night we had dinner at her place. It is only the second or third time in 4 months that I have been able to do that without anxiety.

Today is my 61 birthday. I plan on lifting weights, doing yoga and meditating, which I do everyday. My wife and kids are so great they let me read and space out for awhile since I usually don't have time for this luxury. My son and I will play basketball with a group we have been playing with for a long time. It is so nice to interact with men in their twenties and thirties. It is a kind of spiritual experience.

What a coincidence, Tomorrow, I'll be 62. Seems just like yesterday I was a toddler. Life is good even if I don't make it to tomorrow.

Today I did the grass and edging, some misc around the home and took my wife of 4o years out with some friends to dinner at Fridays. Next week I'll have to do better as it will be 41 years. I think I'll keep her.

Wife fixing a pork loin smothered in dill weed/seed and Rosemary with potatoes. Waiting on kids and grandchildren to share such a meal and perhaps my favorite pie... Lemon supreme. Officially of retirement age today. If your under 62 keep those SS wages coming in...

Have a great day,

Yesterday we celebrated one granddaughter's eleventh birthday. We had pizza (not so good for grandma wombat and me) and an icecream cake for dessert. The latter was with our extended family--ourselves, our daughter's family of four (including the birthday girl) and a wonderful pair of women who have a two-year-old who is a joy and delight to all of us. We are fortunate to live in a community in which all sorts of family relationships are cherished and supported.

Hello everyone,

No pork or pizza here, as we are vegetarian. (It will be spaghetti with a vegetable sauce.)

We have just installed rainwater tanks to lighten our global footprint and to help keep the vegetables alive during the water restrictions that inevitably come with an Australian summer.

Winter here now, though and I have stood on a ladder in the rain today, watching those first precious drops pour into my tanks.

I got wet and saw nothing much at all, but it was still a proud and symbolic moment.

I want my kids to know that small steps for the planet are important and that I am not afraid to look silly!

Diane returned from 3 days alone in a mountain cabin. I stopped by her house after work, enjoyed Panda Express and a couple hours good conversation. One of our better good moments since we have been separated.

Bright and sunny day in Kentucky with cool temperature of 63 to warm up to the low 70's. Very cool for this time of year. Spending the day 'piddling' around the house, relaxing, some reading and checking in on board a few times for the day. Took a motorcycle ride with the wife and another couple for a cod fish dinner to Cracker Barrel yesterday evening. Weather was refreshing and the fish was outstanding. Hoping your day is filled with love.

If I had been asleep the tornado siren would have startled me awake. The siren is across the street. We don't often have tornadoes here in town. Lots of rain. Our smaller dog, Sassy, is going nuts. Called Diane and woke her since she had heard no sirens. My call gave her an opportunity to close her windows and keep out the rain.

Earlier Diane stopped by for crackers, cheese, tomatoes, fresh basil, balsamic vinegar. We went to see the movie, "Herb and Dorothy," but the theater was closed. I did not notice they were closed Mondays. It was a good evening with Diane.

Heading to WPB Florida in the morning for a couple weeks R&R along with some personal business. Will still be online and available through PM's and use of a laptop computer.

First day back in North Carolina after two weeks of sailing on Lake Michigan. I just spent 8 days on a 23" sailboat with my wife, an Episcopal priest, and a teacher from the Episcopal seminary in Chicago. We entered in The Hook Race, 190 miles from Racine, WI to Menominee, MI. There was no wind, and we did more bobbing around than sailing, but the conversation and fellowship I enjoyed were of the stuff that cannot be bought. It's good to be back, but I already miss the open water, and discussions will keep me up at night, reflecting on the nature of God, for days to come.

Saturday our congregation experienced its first Holy Union Celebration with a same gender couple. Not high church or low, just "messy" - meaning very human. "Chosen parents" presented the bride/groom. We sang "Give Thanks," a favorite of mine. Because of allergies one partner had not participated fully in communion for many years. For this moment creativity found a way to communion for the couple and their family.

My coleslaw was part of the potluck. Dining, entertainment by the children, and dancing completed the meaningful and holy celebration.

Sitting at Midway Marina on Lake Norman, NC, waiting for boat parts so I can have a productive day. It is an exercise in patience. So, to pass the time, I reconfigured the browser on the blackberry to allow the use of online forums. Useful, but not particularly productive»or the shop. Hope my parts get here soon. Meanwhile, I think I will enjoy the daily lectionary readings from Rev. Steve.

Last week my sublet at the downtown art studio came to an end, kind of a sad time. One of my artist friends cheers me up with her emails, here’s her latest--

A man was riding his Harley along a California beach when suddenly from the sky came a booming voice, and the Lord said, “Because you have tried to be faithful to me in many ways, I will grant you one wish.”

The biker pulled over and said, “Lord, please build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want.”

The Lord said, “Your request is too materialistic --and it would nearly exhaust several natural resources. I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Try and think of something that could possibly help mankind.”

The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, “Lord, I wish that I, and all men, could understand our wives and girlfriends. I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, and how I can make her truly happy.”

The Lord replied, “You want two lanes or four on that bridge?”

Hi everyone.

On 14th October (my birthday) I will be launching my novel, THE LILITH CHARM, online in the format of a blog, for everyone to read at their leisure. The official address will be http://thelilithcharm.blogspot.com/. So at the moment I am madly polishing to have it ready every spare moment I have. On Sunday I went to a huge multi-faith celebration as the state I am in is celebrating 150 years of existence! Was covering it for Focus, an Anglican newspaper I write for. Not sure if I can attach it here but could paste I guess. Joseph, how should I go about it? Finally I am anxiously waiting to see if my PhD application is accepted and I will be starting that next year! And that is me caught up!

Hi Adi,

Any short articles you write that you feel would be of interest to progressives could be pasted under the General Resources section as long as you have copyright authority. Anything really long that may be of interest and related to the TCPC community can have a short description and a link placed in the Link section. Books that are progressive in nature that can be read on line can be linked there with a short description also or submitted for interest in reviewing and commenting in the Book Discussion area much as you see in that section now.

Hope that answers your question, if not feel free to PM me .
