Telic 21 Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 I am hoping that someone will be able to help define Natural Theism. I understand it to be a term that was first used by Henry Nelson Wieman, a Unitarian. From the little that I know, it resembles an early form of Deism. Is anyone familiar with it? Is it a belief system that uses the Bible at all? Are there Christians that use the term? Does anybody know of any resources? Websites? Books? Thanks. Quote
BeachOfEden Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 2 main names come to mind, Waldo Emerson, and David Henery Thearo(?) You might try typing Waldo Emerson's in a web search. Also the UU's have publish some books about him. Quote
AletheiaRivers Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 Well, I just googled him and he seems quite interesting. His whole philosophy is basically an empirical theology or empirical Christology. I didn't google "Natural Theism" just Wieman. Oxford Press has a book at the following link: http://www.oup.com/us/catalog/general/subj...401325&view=usa Quote
AletheiaRivers Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 You might check out the book "The God Experiment" that I've mentioned in about 6 posts today. LOL. Synchronicity is so cool. Quote
