Who (What?) Is The Christ?

George,

Perhaps so, but in context of being in Christ and the NT speaking of the body of Christ and that Christ is the true light that lighhted every man (woman) that comes into the world, it seems plain to me that Christ (that anointing) is not necessarily meant to be a King or Priest in the earthly sense of the word. Christ is not anointing to the Jews or Greeks alone, therefore, it seems to me, the word has deeper spiritual meaning and is applicable to all. Besides. even Jesus is recorded saying that his kingdom (speaking as Christ) is not of this world. And also "That which is flesh is flesh and that which is Spirit is Spirit". The Jews may have been looking for an anointing or anointed one in the flesh but to the Christian (imo) Christ is hidden and revealed within and without of us by God alone. Perhaps because Christ is a spiritual anointing rather than earthly anointing with oil?

Jesus Christ of the Gospels is a spiritual being. He even tells us so if indirectly in Luke; "For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he."

Jesus is aligning himself as a being within the kingdom of God and as something not of normal human experience, i.e. not being born of women.

Where the anointing meaning of Messiah and Christ derives from will no doubt come as a shock to Abrahamic puritans but I have no reason not to believe its true. Before the Brahmin/Abrahamic patriarchal takeover of the former pagan religious beliefs there was in pagan natural religions a ritual symbolizing the king spiritually "marrying" the gods or top God as he was crowned for office. The ritual was sexual in symbolism, symbolizing a sacred marriage. The king's head symbolized the head of a ###### where the crown was originally a crown of flowers, symbolizing a woman's vagina, the head entering it. The oil symbolized the semen that marked the union completed. This root of the ritual of anointing kings and priests in patriarchal religions has of course been thoroughly buried. It throws another light on the Crown of Thorns as well, a root icon of Christian anti-sex theology.

###### ??? Peenuss is censored but not vagina? What's that about?

Waterbear,

The system board is set up to censor words automatically. Occasionally we get porn and the system uses a filter automatically. Nothing personal to your post. The other word can be added but was not part of the original filters.
