Hi Everyone!

Well, after two jillion years, more or less, I am stepping down as TCPC Webmanager and will be turning the moderation of the TCPC Message Boards over to Surani Joshua (LibChristian), one of the TCPC Executive Council members.

Surani has lots of experience managing message boards - she actually moderated the Progressive Christianity boards at Beliefnet.com and several other communities as well.

She is passionate and knowledgeable about Progressive Christianity, and will have so much to bring to this wonderful little community. I know she has lots of ideas already.

If you click on "The Moderating Team" at the bottom of the boards, you will see her name and contact info. You can always just click on her name (LibChristian) to get to her profile as well.

She will be introducing herself soon and telling you more about her background and interests. Please welcome her and show her the ropes, and be patient while she learns her way around.

I will poke my head in here and there to see how things are going, so please do keep in touch. I cannot even begin to thank all of you for all of your contributions to this community, and for keeping me informed and always entertained over the years. I look forward to seeing this group grow and thrive. It may seem small and often quiet, but what you are doing here - the mutual support and learning - is so important. I hope you know that.

Much love,
LibChristian
Hello everyone!

I'm happy to be taking over the position of TCPC Board Moderator from Monica, and look forward to posting here more often in the coming days.

A little bit about me: I live in a suburb of Phoenix, attend an unprogrammed Quaker Meeting, am a math, physics, and education student at Arizona State University, and I've been on the board of TCPC for about 3 years now.

I spend a lot of my time participating in dialogue on the Internet, because online you can find people and places devoted to discussions on a deeper level than your everyday casual conversation that ends 2 minutes after it begins - I'm sure many of you feel the same way.

I also have quite a bit of experience moderating message boards. I moderated the Progressive Christianity boards at beliefnet for over a year, and created and later handed over The Forum for Progressive Christianity on the Prospero platform. I'm basically going to continue the same type of minimal moderation as Monica did, but if you want to know a little bit more about my moderating style you can read the TFPC link - I wrote all but the last 2 paragraphs and it has worked well in keeping boards positive and healthy.

It's funny to talk about my online experiences with people who don't dialogue online because they don't seem to "get it." They think of online discussion as what they read over someone's shoulder on MySpace or the "yr so kewl g2g l8er" type of IM discussion. But on message boards devoted to a topic people are passionate about, we really become a community of friends, and become as close to people as if they were living down the streets, sharing in their joys and troubles.

Monica's done a wonderful job of moderating these boards, and I hope she'll continue to drop by regularly, both because her input is valuable and simply because I'll miss her! Unfortunately, she was also overworked, and the reason she asked me to take over is because she wanted someone to help maximize our board's potential as a place of dialogue and discovery. With your help, I hope to justify her trust!

If you have any ideas or suggestions on what we can do to improve this board, feel free to respond to this post or to PM me. Also, I’m always on the lookout for ways to publicize our community. Perhaps the most important thing I've learned in progressive Christian message boards is how hungry people are for the kind of community and fellowship we offer! I’m looking forward to joining all of you in making this a spiritually uplifting place for all.

Monica,

You are a class act, dear...the gold standard for board moderators. Thank you so much for your dedication to this community. You've made a significant personal investment in us and in keeping us together. <<gratitude coming at you! >> Don't be a stanger!

Surani (LibChristian),

I suppose there is no need to welcome you to tcpc (having been on the board for 3 years!), but welcome as our Moderator!

Hi LibChristian,

Nice to see you here, always admired your posts on Beliefnet, didn't know you were also a member here. Amazed that you are a math & physics student as well. I'm sure you'll do a great job as moderator here.

[Would have said this yesterday but I was too bummed by the latest news from Bush...grrr!]
LibChristian

Thanks rivanna! Do you have another handle on bnet? I don't recognize yours right now. I'm looking forward to moderating here :-)

Thank you for this wonderful introduction and for the information and thank you for allowing me to participate in the discussions here.

Progressive Christianity should be aware and awake to see and know the truth, and there is a new movement beginning with a solid foundation of one spirit, one truth, one soul eternal and we can all have eternal life if we know the one truth and the word of truth is LOVE.

I'm participating in a lot of communities and some of my messages are two minute conversations not completely given to a completed thought, only to engage other people in discussion and explaination of their own beliefs. It is then that I intend to expose the full glory of the light that removes all sin from them to know the TRUTH.

In order for religion to progress we must know the direction we need to move towards, the Sun and Son are rising on a new era and a great awakening is at hand, the truth will be known and that one truth might not be what any Church going person expected, but isn't that how GOD works?

What do I know?

What did I do?

What did I do wrong?

Upon answering those questions you will see the true light of love.

Hi Lib - and I'm pretty new myself.

Math and Physics and a PC - now I would love to talk about that. The Universe being, I'm reliable informed, some 78 Billion Light Years across and still going, there just seems there has to be similar conditions as to Earth for life out there somewhere. We may not be alone.
