Job Description

TITLE: Part Time Youth Leader

JOB GOAL: To help plan and implement the activities, events and ministry projects
that are the youth ministry of New Waverly United Methodist Church

SALARY: $ 5,000.00 per year

PRIMARY DUTIES:

- Attend Sunday Worship Service every Sunday at 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
- Teach Children’s Church (aprox. ½ hour lesson to children grades 5 and under) during Morning worship.
- Organize list of volunteers to staff church nursery during services
- Lead a youth group meeting (Grades 5-12) once a month. This can be done on Sunday afternoons after church.
- Give appropriate devotional messages to youth at youth group meetings. The Pastor will assist with this.
- Organize a list of volunteers to lead monthly children’s activities for children under grade 5.
- Work with Pastor and church volunteers to organize and run annual week long Vacation Bible School.
- As practical, attend church functions to show positive example to our youth
- As practical, visit our youth and attend their school/sport activities
- Attend special church business meetings when requested to do so.

COMMENTS FROM PASTOR DAVIS:
We are a small and growing rural church located between Peru and Logansport. We highly value our youth programs and are actively seeking the right person to partner with us as we grow. The successful applicant need not be a United Methodist. However, she or he must be willing to support the teachings and principles of the Untied Methodist Church while working in this ministry capacity.
Most of these duties can be accomplished on Sunday. However, a few weekdays per month may be required. Many of the job duties can be done from home via telephone and e-mail. We will be very flexible with scheduling issues for the right applicant.
