It's definitely best to read Sallie McFague's many great books but here is an article >

One of her best books, LIFE ABUNDANT, was written after these articles were published.

What I found most intriguing and helpful in her book, METAPHORICAL THEOLOGY, is her assertion, well documented and argued, that all of our language is metaphorical: Religious language, theological language, political language, scientific language, etc.

She offers new models for theological thinking which move us beyond patriarchal and hierarchical metaphors. Example: God as Friend rather than Father.
