fbraakman Posted August 20, 2014 Share Posted August 20, 2014 Hello everyone, I have been disconnected from a church environment for 18 years. While the church I was part of was re-inventing itself, departing from an Old Testament frame of mind to a "new testament" way of thinking, I soon became discouraged as it seemed that we were still bound by too much "religion". So I left the church that I was part of for almost 20 years. It was a very difficult decision to leave, since I was caught up in a fundamentalist organization which had many rules and regulations. Leaving was both scary and liberating at the same time. I happened to come across one of John Shelby Spong's books, "Why Christianity Must Change or Die", and his writings were devastating for me.
