Genies? What are the perceptions you all have on this?

It demonstrates how culture can create reality. Imagine a US Court even considering a suit against a ghost even if it were supported by research of the TV show "Ghost Hunters."

The suggestion that "genies" predate Islam but are now considered part of Islam parallels the idea that the Hebrews who wrote the Old Testament did not believe in the Devil. The Devil was a souvenir of the time in Exile and brought back in the culture but not in the priestly beliefs. Later on the Devil became part of Hebrew and many Christian traditions.

In the end the story is an example of how culture creates reality, I think.
