Anyone here celebrate the winter solstice? How do you observe it?
Live fully, laugh often, and love unconditionally

Hi there,

Yep I do. I use the rituals of The Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. To me it has powerful mythtic connections to the one who was to be called The Christ. Here's a poem that tries to express what I feel about this time of year and the hope that it brings:

Yule

The Earth Mother sleeps
A sleeping beauty fair,
Who while in slumber, all around her, dark and cold and bare.

She waits for the kiss.
On which she survives
Her heart years, the wheel turns, the prince of light arrives

He parts the darkened blankets
Leans forth with lips of gold
The earth quakes, the princess wakes, the solstice lord – behold!

Whenever there is darkness
And love gives way to fear
Think on this, the sun-god’s kiss, and the light will re-appear.
