I notice that when I read my message board it goes from point 4 to point 6. I posted a comment on point 5 and it doesn't show up on the message board. I also missspelled the word missing. I worte Mission instead of Missing.

Very strange. Now I'm convinced this board could use a new moderator!

Various glitches do show up now and again, or perhaps there was just
a mistake. I think Monica is doing a great job, and also the spam level
has gone down, so another pat on the back is due. A admin is a thankless
job, and someone is always not happy that's no reason to say we need
a new one. Besides I don't think there are going to be lines and lines
for this job!

I disagree strongly with your post, rivanna, and I don't think it was
constructive, just designed to hurt.

Des

I am very pleased with the overall layout of the site. Monica is doing an excellent job. All sites have glitches from time to time. I am sure it won't be long before the problem is fixed.

I agree that Rivanna's comment was ill advised, but I would hope that that it was made thoughtlessly rather than with an intent to hurt.

I hope so too. The thing is that things said thoughtlessly (sort of a trouble with email and forums
in general is that there is no time to sit and think about what you send out-- to easy to hit
the send button), but things said that way can still hurt.

I have yet to see a site without some glitches, sometimes a lot worse than point 5 not being there.
BTW, I notice it was back up.

I don't see Point 5 on the board now.

It seems unfair that the moderator would respond to one person but not to others.
That is hurtful, to me.

But I'm probably leaving this forum anyway.
I've enjoyed many of the voices here and have learned from them but don't feel I have much to contribute.

I just checked what they call the "permissions" for point 5, and I had accidentally not checked a few boxes that allows everyone to see that point all the time. I had no idea and am so glad you let me know.

If this mistake means you don't want me to be the admin anymore, let me know! I do this on a volunteer basis at this point anyway. I have always thought it was a wonderful little community, and that you, rivanna, have had much to offer! Hope you stick around in spite of my imperfections...

Obviously I would have no reason to keep you from seeing part of the forum, since my job here is to encourage conversation as much as I can. If, for whatever reason, you still cannot see that point, please let me know right away so I can figure it out.

Best,

You ask very interesting questions. I will be sorry to see you go. By the way, point 5 is back on the message board.

PS. Thanks, des, for your comment about the spam reduction. I have to weed through about fifty "applications" to become members of this board every few days to pick out the one or two "real" people in the bunch to approve. Whew! But worth it, right? No more Viagra!

? That is about response to one person and not another?
Perhaps there *could* be something with your web browser. I am happier
with Safari (Mac based) than I was with Internet Explorer. I very much like
Firefox, and think is maybe the best browser, but I do not like the lack
of scroll bars on the Mac (makes reading text harder).

Anyway, I had a good many more glitches on IE. If you are
using Netscape no telling. There is a difference of how different
browsers respond to data and so on. You might look into this.

I'm guessing there was really an actual glitch, as Monica discovered
one, but there could also be somethign with your web browser.
Another thing you can try is get off the site and come back, sometimes
the refresh on a site can do strange things and not show a post you
just posted. That actually happened more on another site than this
one. I read a few forums with Invision type software. They all do this
not showing a post from time to time and sometimes it is the browser,
I think; other times the software, and it can be a glitch that is a human
error. Heck we all make them. No big deal is there?

Thanks re: the Viagra ads. Yikes what a pain in the ....!!!!!
One forum on Yahoo, I'm on keeps getting some fundamentalist
Moslem on there-- all sorts of infidel stuff. So I guess it could be worse.

Monica,

Thanks for your note. I had e-mailed you earlier, also asked you (on the topic you started about blogs vs. forum) if you could delete my post on the links suggestions. That website has expired. Not a big deal but if you can I'd appreciate it.

Thanks also to Bob and Des, I'll probably continue to hang around, it's been a good group and atmosphere.

Wow. Monica, I had no idea. Glad you let that one slip so the rest of us would have the chance to know what you're doing for us behind the scenes. Thanks very much. And Merry Christmas to you!

Love Jen

P.S. Jesus is waving his hand (a quantum hand, of course) to get my attention. He says thank you, too.
