Hi folks!

I would like to know who I might call or e-mail about helping to publicize Rabbi Michael Lerner's Nov. appearances in San Diego, Ca.? He is coming Nov. 8th and Nov 9th, 2006. For those of you who are not familar with his contribution, he has helped co-found the "Network of Spiritual Progressives". This is a inter-denominational group intended to include spiritiuality in progressive politics. His latest book is "The left hand of God-- taking back our country from the religious right."

I am very excited by his ideas and see so much promise in them. I would really like to let potentially interested others know about him and his apprearances. Does anybody know how I can reach people in the San Diego area so perhaps some annct. can be made in any local TCPC churches/publications in the San Diego area? Any names/contact info. in San Diego area would be much appreciated!

thanks much...and blessings to all,
Craig Smith

Hi Craig,

I just caught your note. Thanks for plugging Michael Lerner.

Usually, the hosts of the events are responsible for publicity. I'm the NSP (Network of Spiritual Progressives) contact for Tucson. We are doing our own publicity for Michael Lerner's visit to Tucson on October 12. If you can't wait until November, come on over!

Check this site for more information on the Tucson talk:

The people who can best answer your questions about San Diego are copied below from the NSP website:

Thanks,

Vince

Hi Vince and Craig, Just letting you know that there is someone else here in blogger land that is an admirer of Rabbi Lerner and the NSP. I was very impressed by "The Left Hand of God" Impressed enough that when some friends offered to host a get together and info meeting for backing a cabinet level "Department of Peace", I came and was surprized to see 15 people there ( I live in a rural remote area of Michigan's Upper Pennisula where, as a genrality, people fish, hunt, drink heavily, and vote Republican. The most often solution that I have heard for our problems overseas was that we should just go over there and "kill them all") So it was a surprize to see that many people who mostly consisted of educated types and people with a spiritual bent. I wrote a couple of letters to the editor and we got some attention.

About the same time I got an invitation from this site to re-vist so I did . (I had visited a couple of years ago but never really got going with the site.) I am really impressed by the some of the ideas I have picked up here and combined witrh being inspired by "The Left Hand of God' am moving towards considering starting a "Christian Progressive" or "Spiritual Progressive" group around here. Possibly even a church or spiritual group if there is enough interest. There are a lot more deer, wolves, skunks. porcupines, coyotes, and rabbits around here than people, but with the Holy Spirit's help and inspiration, who knows? I will know by the end of this month how fast and with what degree of certainty I can move.

Sorry Craig I can't help you with the specifics you wanted , I just wanted the two of you to know I was around.

Hi Jim:

Thanks for your reply. I am gladdened to hear people such as yourself becoming inspired by the likes of Rabbi M. Lerner. When I heard him talk in person about 6 months ago, I felt such excitement and hope! He is so gifted as a speaker and motivator and I feel his ideas are compassionate and sound....

blessings,
Craig
